CrestPoint Branches Out - Mountain States Health Alliance is deeping its foray into the field of insurance. CrestPoint Health, an affiliated company of MSHA through Integrated Solutions Health Networks (ISHN), began serving MSHA team members over a year ago and has plans available to large employers since. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - When Integrated Solutions Health Network (ISHN) formed the CrestPoint Health insurance company and AnewCare Collaborative, the region’s first community-based accountable care organization, in 2012, it laid down a solid foundation for building a better health care paradigm.

As part of that process, the company decided that such an innovative business launch required a chief clinical integration officer (CCIO) who is gifted at managing integration initiatives while fostering healthy relationships between patients, physicians, hospitals, health care providers, payors and the people of the community it serves. After an extensive search, the company has appointed Dr. Tom Lundquist as CCIO for ISHN and president/CEO of AnewCare, citing his dedication to daring enterprises and his vast leadership experience. Starting next year, an insurance company launched by the largest hospital system in northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia will start selling private Medicare health plans.

Medicare's accountable-care experiment, which seeks to revamp how hospitals and doctors get paid, more than doubled in size with 89 newly named participants. The CMS added the latest accountable care organizations to 27 ACOs in its shared-savings program, which offers medical groups, hospitals and federally qualified health centers financial incentives for quality improvement and cost control. An additional 38 organizations operate under other Medicare accountable care contracts. Read the full article.

In an effort to create affordable options for local residents affected by the ending of the contract between CIGNA and Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA), health system officials have come up with an innovative solution that will allow patients with CIGNA insurance to continue accessing MSHA services at lower, in-network rates, even after CIGNA's network changes to exclude MSHA on Jan. 1, 2012. Integrated Solutions Health Network (ISHN) recently appointed Robert S. Slattery as President and CEO, and David Sensibaugh as Vice President. Slattery’s responsibilities include oversight of the company’s transformation into the premier regional community-based Accountable Care Organization. Sensibaugh’s responsibilities include developing solutions and new methodologies to improve the health and productivity of plan participants by ensuring the proper alignment and integration of all health and wellness resources.
